All of the pets in our care rely on people just like you to help love and care for them until they find their forever home. With the help of volunteers, FCAR finds homes for hundreds of pets every year.

Are you interested in making the world better one pet at a time?

Foster

After retiring, I knew I wanted to help out at FCAR and volunteer a few hours a week. I soon realized that there is also a great need to foster our furry friends. So for the past 20 months or so, I've fostered 2 sets of kittens with their mothers and several individual cats that just needed some one on one time and lots of loving. These were cats that have been neglected or abandoned or mistreated, and just needed someone to love them and reinstate their confidence in people.

Volunteer

Volunteering with FCAR has definitely been rewarding!  There is a variety of fun and important volunteer opportunities for everyone. FCAR staff is very welcoming and spending time with the animals is amazing!

How To Volunteer

The first step is to fill out the volunteer application and attend a volunteer orientation. Orientations are required for all volunteer positions  and happen a few times monthly.  Any volunteer who is 15 yrs old or under must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

The second step is to determine what kind of volunteer you would like to be.

Events

Help us keep our animals healthy. These volunteers help clean out kennels, scoop litter boxes, change linens, etc. All volunteers will start in the public areas of the shelter and be able to work towards helping with our dogs.

Event Volunteers help us throughout the year at a variety of opportunities throughout the county. From adoption events to tabling to fundraisers, event volunteers brings FCAR to the community.

It takes a lot to keep our shelter clean and these volunteers are essential. This opportunity is available Sunday and Monday afternoons and helps us get the nooks and crannies.

**We have all kinds of volunteer opportunities, and there’s a place here for every skill set. Whether you’re great with people, handy with tools, creative, organized, or just love animals, your talents can make a difference.
