Adopting a cat is a lifetime commitment! If you are still are not quite sure if adopting a cat is right for you, here are some helpful resources:

<<Things about Cat Adoption>>

<<Before You Adopt a Cat>>

When you’ve decided you and your family are ready for an amazing loving lifetime commitment to a feline friend we recommend getting pre-approved by filling out our

  <<Cat Application>>

You must be 21 years old to adopt.

Once we receive your application we require a minimum of 2 business days to review COMPLETE applications. This process may take a little longer if we are still waiting for information such as a call back from your landlord or veterinarian. You can help expedite the process by bringing us copies of proof of home ownership such as a tax bill, a copy of the portion of your rental agreement that states pets are okay and your vet records for any pets you own or have owned in the last 5 years.

We will call you when we are done processing your application. If you have sent your application via email, fax or mail, feel free to call us to ensure that we have received it.

Cats and kittens are NOT adopted out on a “first-come, first-serve” basis. We choose to match our applicant and cats based on what we deem as best suited for that particular cat or kitten.

We do not allow the cats and kittens from FCAR to be declawed. For more information and tips on alternatives to declawing, please check here: Alternatives to Declawing

This is a great time to start looking at kitties! You can see the cats we have available for adoption by visiting the “Available Pets” tab on our website or by coming to the shelter! If you choose to come to the shelter we highly recommend bringing all family members. Unless you already have a pre-approved application, you will not be able to bring home a kitty on your first visit.

Cats are $100 and Kittens are $125

Adopting a dog is a lifetime commitment! If you are still aren’t quite sure if adopting a dog is right for you, here are some helpful resources:

Dogs and Puppies are NOT adopted out on a “first-come, first-serve” basis. Please be patient, we carefully screen our applications so that we can give our shelter dogs the best chance for a forever home.

All dogs and puppies available for adoption have been microchipped. Once a dog or puppy has been adopted the information linked to the microchip will be transferred to the new owners’ name. This is a lifetime service at no additional cost to you! If you would like more information on how microchips work, please check here  <<Microchips>>

This is a great time to start looking at dogs! You can see the dogs we have available for adoption by visiting the “Available Pets” tab on our website or by coming to the shelter. If you currently own a dog, your dog (or dogs) will be required to do a “Meet and Greet” here at the shelter to see how they interact with their potential new family member. We also require that all members of the household do the same.

One last step before adoption! Your potential new family member will need to go on a “Home Visit” with you! We recommend approximately a week. This is a great time to see if for any reason it may not work out before the final commitment. Our knowledgeable staff will help guide you through this process.

Dogs are $195 and Puppies are $325
